この高校はかわいいです。
Here’s a rather adorable school I drew a few days ago. Anime and manga isn’t a bad place to learn some of the fundamentals of art. I’m getting pretty good at scenery and architecture. Now to keep working on that and so some more practice with drawing people, too.
On another note, Cowboy Bebop is a phenomenal show.
The Mechanist’s Apprentice - Chapters 3 & 4
Here’s the next part of my novella, The Mechanist’s Apprentice. Uploads after this will be spotty as I haven’t been working on it a whole lot lately. What can I say? I’m an ambitious dude (meaning I’m working on a lot of projects).
Here’s the link to the first two chapters.
Victorian house with round bushes! I probably spent about an hour on this one and unwittingly did a bit of a rushed watercolor job, but oh well. It doesn’t look too bad, even with color just sorta thrown on there.
The darker edges is a product of using a flash up too close. …I also wish I remembered where I got the reference photo from. If this house looks like it’s something you took a picture of, let me know and I’ll throw some credit on there, take the illustration down, whatever.
I decided to expand on that little doodle I did last week. I’m going to play around with this style and theme quite a bit, I believe. It’s one I quite enjoy.
Once again, this is on not-so-great paper and is a smartphone photo, but oh well. People seem to dig my work, so maybe I’ll give this to a family member or friend out of the blue. Why not, right?
The Mechanist’s Apprentice Chapters 1 & 2
This is a novella I’ve been working on since last fall.
I believe I am going to upload two chapters of this every weekend until I’m caught up with where I’m at in the writing and then upload each chapter as I finish them. Note that this is still very much a work-in-progress.
I particularly like this little sketch. It has that Borderlands and Para-ten vibe going that I love. I’m definitely going to work on this style more. Ahh, nothing like that first step on another journey.
Apologies for the poor-quality smartphone photo—still can’t find good drivers for my scanner.
First things I’ve drawn in a month and a half or so. I’ve been studying how people and all are drawn, so here’s some conceptual stuff. Left to right: Gorbold Trashman, some creepy lantern dude, and what a new comic character / old blog character of mine may look like. I’ve been working to not feel so much pressure when I’m creating, so hopefully things keep going smoothly and pick up soon.
I can’t do art right now, so read other people’s awesome work!
I didn’t start this blog with the intention of it being about personal things but instead as more or less some sort of online portfolio. Anyway, things in my life have been completely nuts lately so here’s a comic and a graphic novel I’ve happened across today, one of which I found linked on a friend’s blog:
Happle Tea — amazing, weird comic about a little kid and the absurdities of mythology and what-have-ye: http://happletea.com/
Para-Ten — I dunno what it’s about or anything as I just started, but I love the art style of this. http://www.tenthousandmasks.org/para-ten
So yeah, at least I’m still finding inspiration. Anyway, back to what I was doing. Not art, sadly (which is really driving me a bit nuts, by the way…I hate not making things or having the energy to learn and all).
I figure I should note that I, converse to nobody’s opinion, am not dead. I’ve been taking a hiatus from art to focus on other projects (and to change my views on my own art, as I was starting to hate it). If you’re curious about what I’ve been doing, I’ve been slowly working through a novella as well as teaching myself a foreign language.
Thank you for your patience. I assure everyone that the wait will have been worth it once I start illustrating things again. :)
